Gain a Brighter Smile With Teeth Whitening

Feel more confident with your whiter smile. It’s easy with professional teeth whitening.

Everything from the foods we eat to simply getting older can take its toll on the radiance of our smiles. Fortunately, there is so much we can do about it. We don’t have to settle for dull, yellowing smiles, and why should we when our Tuscaloosa, AL, cosmetic dentist Dr. Kimberly Parker can easily get your smile several shades whiter with professional teeth whitening treatment?

What stains can professional teeth whitening treat?

Our whitening system is incredibly powerful. Far more powerful than anything you can get at your local drugstore, which also means that we can tackle the darker and more stubborn stains that may not budge with at-home whitening. Professional teeth whitening is ideal for removing stains that develop on the enamel and dentin layers of the tooth (aka, internal stains), caused by aging and dark foods and drinks.

While professional whitening can also remove darker stains caused by smoking or tobacco products, it may take more than one session to achieve the results you want. Our Tuscaloosa, AL, dental team would be happy to tailor and customize your teeth whitening treatment to meet your needs.

How does professional teeth whitening work?

Our peroxide-based whitening gel contains a very high percentage of hydrogen peroxide. While over-the-counter whitening gels typically contain less than 10 percent hydrogen peroxide, most dentists use whitening gels that contain anywhere from 35-40 percent hydrogen peroxide. This means that we don’t have to leave the gel on your teeth for very long to see results.

Here’s what’s involved in getting professional teeth whitening at our Tuscaloosa, AL, practice:

  • We will pull out a shade chart to determine the current shade of your teeth and which shade you’d like to achieve
  • We will clean your teeth to remove any plaque or tartar before we begin treatment
  • We will place a barrier in your mouth to reveal your teeth while protecting and covering the gums
  • The whitening gel is applied and can either be rinsed and reapplied in several 15-minutes intervals or may simply be left on your teeth for up to 45 minutes
  • Once the gel has been rinsed, we will pull out the shade guide to determine how much whiter we were able to get your smile, and whether at-home whitening or an additional in-office whitening session is required
  • You will want to avoid any dark or brightly colored foods for at least the first 48 hours after whitening treatment to prevent stains from forming

If you are interested in turning to our Tuscaloosa, AL, dental team for professional in-office teeth whitening before your upcoming wedding or special occasion, or simply to improve your appearance, then it’s the perfect time to call Tuscaloosa Family Dental at (205) 722-7550 to schedule a consultation.
